Frequently asked questions

Is my photo sent to a server?

No. The AI model is downloaded once from IMG.LY's server and runs in your browser; your photo never leaves your device.

Why is the first run slow?

The model and its runtime files are about 100 MB, so the download takes a while depending on your connection. While the page stays open, it isn't downloaded again for the next images.

Which formats are supported?

JPG, PNG and WebP. The result is always a PNG with a transparent background.

Why are the edges sometimes imperfect?

With hair, fur and semi-transparent objects the model may not separate the edge perfectly. Results are best when the subject is sharp and the background is plain.

What if the download gets stuck?

If no data arrives for 45 seconds, the download stops. Reload the page and try again.
